Layout, Type and Graphics – PBteen

Though all layouts done for the catalog are touched by my whole team, these spreads contain elements I contributed directly:

  • Small Spaces feature (first 3 slides): developed look, drew illustrations, chose font and background; worked closely with Creative Director to achieve desired result.
  • Front cover type treatment: For this cover, I introduced two new fonts that would be used throughout the season’s catalogs. This cover was a rare opportunity to focus on type, and I was lucky enough to have my type treatment selected for it.
  • -Dorm call-outs & transparent page number: With the new format of full-page photography, we faced a new challenge of how to handle a folio. After many ideas were tossed around the table, we finally landed on the transparent solution I presented. This spread also features a call-out solution I designed; it is clean and sits well with the photography, plus more sophisticated, for a college-bound teen.
  • Holiday type and layout: For this spread, I was in charge of setting the type. We utilized a type style that was provided, but when it came to fitting all the necessary copy within the photograph, it became a little tricky. I found a solution that read well, had a clear hierarchy and remained clean.
